Völkl Yumi review 2020
PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments
We already tested the Völkl Yumi last year, and it does not seem to have changed much. It demonstrates the same qualities, in particular on groomers.
The first quality the testers mentioned was the incredible accessibility of the ski. The Yumi is an easy intuitive ski that doesn’t require special instructions or excessive effort. It is very forgiving, inspires confidence, and allows skiers to improve their technique.
Testers called frontside performance “very good” and beyond reproach. The ski is comfortable in all conditions and is particularly enjoyable in soft snow. Certain testers would have liked a bit more liveliness underfoot.
At 84 mm in the waist, it is the narrowest ski tested in this category. Off-piste performance suffers a bit as a result, but the Yumi is still efficient, very “enjoyable,” and even cuts through chopped-up snow pretty well. According to the testers, it is a very good ski to “to try powder and other snow conditions for the first time.”
The “perfect ski” in this category, the Völkl Yumi is an excellent choice for intermediate to advanced female skiers who want a ski that performs well on piste and that they can take off-piste when the conditions are right.

Manufacturer's remarks
The Yumi is a ski that will appeal to a wide range of skiers, from beginner to advanced female skiers. This ski is comfortable on groomers and will also allow you to discover off-piste skiing and powder! The Yumi is 84 mm underfoot and has a Titanal band in the center of the ski. This band is very thin, making the ski smoother and more responsive without adding extra weight. The rocker in the tip lets the ski float more easily. Given its lightness, it can also be mounted with a freeride binding (like the Squire, Griffon…) or with a pin binding like the Marker Kingpin, for example.
