K2 Konic 78 review 2019
PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments
K2 skis are always a hit with testers. Their skis offer a well-balanced compromise that cleverly blends accessibility, reliability, and performance. The Konic 78 is no exception and was ranked one of the best skis in this category. We are looking for user-friendly skis for low level skiers that will also allow them to improve their technique, in particular, to learn how to carve.
The ski is remarkably accessible. According to the testers, the ski is "easy to control,” and you “immediately feel good." Pivoting and turn initiation are easy and intuitive. Performance is solid and predictable in all situations.
Skidded turns are enjoyable and smooth as long as you don't create too much edge angle and/or lean back, because the tail tends to catch, which actually helps in carved turns.
In fact, it is very easy to initiate carved turns. The testers say that you just need to lean in to get the ski to carve effortlessly: "You lean in, and it carves." The ski flexes and glides throughout the turn with incredible ease.
Like the Speed Zone 7, the Konic 78 clearly meets the PROSKILAB criteria for this category due to its user-friendliness and its ability to help skiers progress to carving. However, it is a bit more technical than the Dynastar, especially in skidded turns.
It is an excellent choice for intermediate skiers who can make skidded parallel turns and want to move on to carving.

- Solid performance, good for improving
- Stability
- Comfortable in long turns
