K2 Konic 76 review 2020
PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments
For the past few years, the Proskilab testers have reviewed the skis in the K2 Konic series and really liked them. Last year, the Konic 78 won the Accessibility/Performance award. This year, the Konic 76 snagged the Best Ski medal, which was well-deserved.
The Konic 76’s best quality is its accessibility. The ski is very “easy to handle” and intuitive. You immediately feel comfortable on it. No special instructions are necessary. From the first run, you’ll feel confident. The ski is incredibly stable, which makes all types of turns and all types of snow a breeze. You can progressively increase speed until you are linking turns at a good pace, and the ski will remain stable and solid throughout the turn.
Our testers (who were mostly pros) had an awesome time on this ski. It is playful and responsive because the tip engages immediately in the turn. You won’t get bored on the Konic 76 because it is a total blast.
In the “Easy Cruisers” category, we choose skis that are really good at pivoting and skidding when the skier is slightly back. But we also want skis that are capable of helping skiers progress to carved turns, in a more forward position.
The Konic 76 fulfills these criteria. The ski is easy for low level skiers to use and can help them to learn to carve, and eventually to carve at high speed.
The potential for technical improvement for a beginner on these skis is really amazing. According to the testers, the ski allows a beginner to make “huge improvements” and become a skier who is proficient at carving.
The only criticism is that when you increase speed, the tip, which is a little soft, floats and vibrates at high speed.
The Konic 76 is the ultimate beginner/learning ski. It is playful, “fun and confidence-inspiring,” and can help improve your technique. We recommend it to any skier who wishes to progress, from total beginners to parallel skiers.
