K2 Wayback 96 review 2020
PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments
Well-known among the Proskilab testers, the K2 Wayback 96 remains at the top level and is still a benchmark in the sector.
All the testers appreciated the ski’s accessibility. The Wayback 96 is "easy to handle,” calm in all types of terrain and “turns in all conditions.” You’ll immediately have a lot of fun on this ski with little effort even if you don’t have amazing technique.
It is also a grippy, responsive, playful ski with a lot of character.
It feels light when you’re carrying it on your shoulder (1.4 kg flat). It also feels light underfoot, which makes it even more fun to ski on.
The overall accessibility of the ski and its playful side make it is an absolute blast to ski on.
However, it is “less serene” at high speed but is “still adequate.”
The K2 Wayback 96 offers a good compromise between weight, accessibility, and fun and will appeal to a large segment of the market. We recommend it specifically to freeride touring skiers who wish to expand their playground and to traditional backcountry skiers who want a solid ski for the descent. It is also a great ski for learning and will allow beginners to learn to ski tour or to go off-piste.

Manufacturer's remarks
The Wayback 96 is smooth and provides a high level of performance. It offers amazing downhill performance in a featherweight package. If you can have only one pair of touring skis for all conditions, this is the one.
