Head Epic Joy SLR review 2018
PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments
The Epic Joy by Head has obviously put the emphasis on lightness, an important factor for ladies' skis. The ski is incredibly light underfoot. Very easy in turn initiation, happy in skid turns, it’s really easy to steer until you reach medium speeds. At full throttle, especially on hard pack, it slows down. The ski loses its stability, pressure is less consistent, and it's a lot more challenging to steer.
The Epic Joy is a good early stage ski that would certainly have shined in our old "Intermediate women's cruisers" category. It will be a big hit with beginners and second stage riders who’re mainly looking for simplicity and lightness.
Review: Pros
- An extremely light ski
- Very accessible
- Generally smooth at medium speeds
Review: Cons
- Performance a little wanting
- Lacks stability, inconsistent pressure, turn entry is trickier when we step up the pace
