Stöckli Stormrider 88 review 2018

PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments

Unanimous favorite with the PROSKILAB reviewers, Stöckli’s Stormrider 88 placed the bar just that little bit higher, becoming a market benchmark. On piste, it does its job well. It’s a very well balanced, globally efficient ski, with good grip that holds astonishingly well in turns for an all mountain ski. When we step up the pace, turns are still remarkably clean and the ski remains exceptionally stable. Icing on the cake, the Stormrider 88 gives an impression of lightness and facility that's highly enjoyable. Turn initiation, in particular, is very responsive and requires little effort. It keeps its qualities off-piste, and is docile and easy to handle. It cushions the terrain incredibly well and effortlessly cuts through lumps of crud. It’s a reassuring ski that will help less adventurous riders to engage with confidence. In our opinion, it’s one of the best skis on the market in this All Mountain back category. We recommend it for a wide range of riders looking for an extremely versatile ski that’s happy both on and off piste and... who have a nice thick wallet, as the Swiss brand doesn't come cheap; the recommended retail price for this model is 900 euros. We should also point out that really athletic and heavier riders will probably prefer the Kendo, which is stiffer and more performance-oriented.
